Oak Glen, California
Tucked into the San Bernardino Mountains at an elevation of 4,734 feet above sea level, Oak Glen is a small agricultural community enjoying all four seasons. Oak Glen Road is a scenic loop that winds from the I-10 freeway in Yucaipa, through the Potato Canyon Valley and the Wilshire Creek Canyon Valley, then back to the I-10 in Beaumont.
Originally settled by the Cahuilla and Serrano people 2,500 years ago, the first apple orchard was planted in 1867. You’ll find plenty of apple orchards and ranches, cool air, scenic views, nature trails, fruit and vegetable farms, bakeries, restaurants, and cafes, wine and cider tasting, handmade gifts, and historical landmarks. Here are a few of my favorite destinations…
Los Rios Rancho
At Los Rios Rancho, you can pick apples, pumpkins, raspberries, and zinnias, and enjoy activities like apple cider pressing, tractor and wagon rides, candle dipping, and live music.
Open daily from 10am to 5pm.
Pa Riley’s Apple Farm
Pa Riley’s Apple Farm offers apple picking of Gravenstein, Macintosh, and Red Delicious varieties, apple cider pressing, dining at Hawk’s Head Tavern, and discovering unique antiques.
Weekends, 10am to 5pm
Wilshire’s Apple Shed
Wilshire’s Apple Shed features handmade gifts, home goods, fresh cider, wood-fired pizza, baked goods, pies, and specialty gourmet coffee.

Oak Glen Preserve
The Oak Glen Preserve includes the Wildlands Conservancy’s Montane Botanic Garden and Children’s Outdoor Discovery Center, offering walking and hiking trails and picnic areas. The area also features the historic 114-year-old Los Rios Rancho Apple Farm, plus ponds, streams, oak and willow woodlands, redwood and sequoia trees, and chaparral grasslands.
Summer Hours, 8am to 5:30pm
Snow-Line Orchard
Snow-Line Orchard offers raspberry picking, wine and hard cider tastings, apple products, mini cider donuts, as well as a selection of seasonal gifts, decor, and ornaments.
Open daily from 9am to 5pm.
El Mexicano II
El Mexicano II specializes in authentic Mexican cuisine and features views of the apple orchards and ranches. On weekends, enjoy live music on the dog-friendly front patio, while the back patio under conifer trees accommodates large groups.
Before heading home, don’t miss Monstros Sub Shop in Yucaipa.
Monstros Sub Shop
As you exit Oak Glen, visit Yucaipa’s Monstros Sub Shop, where you can try horror-themed sandwiches named after famous monsters like Bela Lugosi and Herman Munster.
12114 California St. | Monday-Saturday 11am-4pm | Sunday 12pm-5pm
P.S. It does snow in the winter with plenty of holiday festivities to enjoy.

I've been to Oak Glen a couple times in search of cooler weather and autumn color, but it's been several years since we last visited. I might have to put it on our calendar this fall!
After living in California for over 60(!) years, I had never heard of Oak Glen. Thx so much for sharing! Looks like an especially wonderful place to visit in the Fall🍁🍂🍁
